There are simple steps you can take today to protect your skin and reduce your changes of getting melanoma or other skin cancers:
- Stay out of the sun between 10 am and 4 pm when the UV rays are most intense.
- Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. When you are outdoors or swimming, put sunscreen every 2 hours and after your swim or sweat.
- Cover up with long sleeves and a hat.
- Check your skin regularly for changes.
- Know the warning signs!
- If you have a family history of melanoma, schedule a visit with your doctor for a full body screening.
