Melanoma Awareness

There are simple steps you can take today to protect your skin and reduce your changes of getting melanoma or other skin cancers:

  • Stay out of the sun between 10 am and 4 pm when the UV rays are most intense.
  • Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher.  When you are outdoors or swimming, put sunscreen every 2 hours and after your swim or sweat.
  • Cover up with long sleeves and a hat.
  • Check your skin regularly for changes.
  • Know the warning signs!
  • If you have a family history of melanoma, schedule a visit with your doctor for a full body screening.
